Psychosocial Support Center · Kharkiv, Ukraine

No one should carry the weight of the war alone.

Zatyshok i Vidnovlennia is a newly founded non-profit public association registered in Kharkiv, Ukraine. We exist for people whose lives and mental health have been affected by the war.

Our mission

We work to protect the mental health of people affected by the war and to make psychosocial support accessible, safe and free of stigma – beginning in Kharkiv.

We exist for

  • Internally displaced people
  • Veterans and their families
  • Civilians affected by the war
  • People with special needs

Our vision

A Kharkiv where no one carries the weight of the war alone, and where asking for psychological support is as ordinary as asking for any other help.

Two questions we ask of everything we do: does it leave fewer people alone with the weight of the war, and does it make asking for help more ordinary?

Our values

What we stand for

Five commitments that guide every decision – each with a concrete “in practice” on the About us page.

  • Dignity

People are more than what happened to them.

  • Safety

    First, do no harm.

  • Access

Help should not depend on income, status or where you live.

  • Accountability

We answer to the people we serve, to our members and to those who fund us.

  • Partnership

We build on what already works.

Why this matters

A burden existing services cannot carry alone

The war has left a psychological burden that existing services cannot carry alone. Kharkiv, some 30 kilometres from the Russian border and under attack since February 2022, carries more of it than most places.

Our focus

Where we will concentrate

Community-level support, between everyday life and specialised treatment.

  1. 01

    Psychosocial support in the community

Low-threshold support close to where people live: support groups, psychological first aid and practical skills for coping with stress, grief and change – delivered by trained and supervised people.

  2. 02

    Mental health literacy

Clear, reliable information about stress, trauma and grief, and about when and where to seek help. Talks and workshops for community groups, workplaces and services. Work against stigma.

  3. 03

    Finding the right help

Helping people reach services that already exist – public, non-governmental and specialised – through an up-to-date overview of services and clear referral routes.
