About us

A non-profit public association registered in Kharkiv, working to protect the mental health of people affected by the war.

Our mission

We work to protect the mental health of people affected by the war and to make psychosocial support accessible, safe and free of stigma – beginning in Kharkiv.

We exist for

  • Internally displaced people
  • Veterans and their families
  • Civilians affected by the war
  • People with special needs

Our vision

A Kharkiv where no one carries the weight of the war alone, and where asking for psychological support is as ordinary as asking for any other help.

Two questions we ask of everything we do: does it leave fewer people alone with the weight of the war, and does it make asking for help more ordinary?

Our values

What we stand for – in practice

  • Dignity

People are more than what happened to them.

    In practice

We meet everyone with respect and without judgement, and we never share anyone’s story or image without their informed consent.

  • Safety

    First, do no harm.

    In practice

We work in a trauma-informed and evidence-informed way, offer only what we are qualified and permitted to offer, and refer people on when they need more.

  • Access

Help should not depend on income, status or where you live.

    In practice

We design our work so that cost, language and distance are not the reason someone goes without support.

  • Accountability

We answer to the people we serve, to our members and to those who fund us.

    In practice

As a non-profit, our income serves our statutory purpose only and is never distributed to founders, members or the board. We publish our documents and reports.

  • Partnership

We build on what already works.

    In practice

We coordinate with public services and other organisations instead of duplicating them, and we share what we learn.

Затишокі Відновлення

Our name

In English: Shelter and Recovery.

Zatyshok (затишок) is a quiet, sheltered place – somewhere out of the wind. Vidnovlennia (відновлення) means recovery. Together they describe what we want to offer: first a sense of safety, then a way forward.
